XR Culture at 3D-ARCH 2026
We were delighted to present at this year's 3D-ARCH conference, where we shared some of our preliminary project results.
During the technical session, Matteo Caponi from Università Politecnica delle Marche presented the paper entitled “From digital reconstruction to immersive education: Virtual Reality cultural heritage experience”. It highlighted the work done within the “XR for Education” scenario of the XRculture project. The main objectives have been to:
- Design a guided immersive educational experience in VR
- Move from visualization to structured learning
- Define a replicable methodology for XR education
The published paper can be accessed in the ISPRS journal while the presentation given can be accessed from the project’s Zenodo community here.
During the demo session, Andrea Sterpin (INCEPTION) presented some of the main results achieved so far in the project, focusing on the digitisation of glass and reflective objects. The scenarios of XRculture were also on display. Apart from the hologram postcards for tourism that fascinated visitors, the team of UNIVPM demonstrated immersive VR experiences created for education. Matteo Caponi and Francesco Di Stefano (UNIVPM) helped the visitors try out the innovative VR experiences, answering questions and gathering valuable feedback.
