Press Release #2 - Participation at the Europeana Conference
Press release
The Europeana Conference
We’re excited to announce that XRculture will be participating in this year’s Europeana Conference on June 11-12 in Warsaw. This annual gathering brings together Europe’s digital culture community to exchange ideas, showcase innovation, and explore the theme “PRESERVE, PROTECT, REUSE.”
The XRculture Stand
The XRculture team will be present in the foyer exhibition area to discover how we’re reimagining cultural heritage through AI-based 3D digitisation and extended reality. We’ll be presenting the 3D content, tools, workflows, and their early deployment plans.
XRculture Workshop: Shaping the future of 3D web viewing and publishing: towards an open middleware for cultural heritage
Preserving 3D cultural heritage assets requires not only high-quality digitization but also robust, interoperable, and sustainable frameworks for their management and accessibility. As part of the XRculture project, we are developing an open middleware that will enable seamless integration of 3D models with web-based visualization platforms and publishing pipelines for the European Data Space for Cultural Heritage (DSCH). This workshop aligns with the "Preserve" theme of Europeana 2025, offering participants a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and development of this middleware by sharing their needs and expectations.
In this interactive session, participants will:

- Learn about the challenges and goals of creating an open, standardised middleware for 3D visualization and publishing.
- Engage in hands-on exploration of existing solutions and their limitations, identifying gaps that the middleware aims to address.
- Provide feedback on key features and functionalities that would enhance institutional workflows, interoperability, and user experience.
- Discuss how this middleware can support Europeana, DSCH, and other digital heritage initiatives.
This workshop is ideal for museum professionals, digital archivists, researchers, developers, and policymakers who work with 3D cultural heritage content. Their insights will directly inform the ongoing development of a flexible, scalable, and sustainable open framework for 3D web visualisation that follows European values and allows Cultural Heritage Institutions (CHIs) to make use of various digitisation techniques and storage environments.
