Bringing Cultural Memories to Life: A Recap of Our Holographic Postcards Webinar
On July 21st, we had the pleasure of hosting our interactive webinar, "Bring Cultural Memories to Life: Create Holographic Postcards with XRCulture and Twin it! Part II." A huge thank you to everyone who logged on and joined us—it was incredible to see such a vibrant community eager to explore the intersection of cultural heritage and immersive technology.
If you are looking for new ways to engage audiences, promote cultural heritage, or simply experiment with digital souvenirs, this session was for you!
What We Covered
Together with our fantastic speakers, Matevž Straus and Alexandru Stan, we dove into the world of hologram postcards. These innovative digital souvenirs have the power to bring cultural heritage and tourism experiences to life in a truly unique and memorable way.
During the one-hour session, we explored:
- The Basics: What holographic postcards actually are and the technology behind how they work.
- Transforming Heritage: How openly reusable 3D models can be turned into unique, tangible keepsakes.
- Real-World Applications: The incredible opportunities—and the practical challenges—of using hologram postcards in museums, classrooms, and tourism contexts.
- The Creative Process: A step-by-step look at how to create a hologram postcard, from selecting the right 3D model to producing the finished, interactive experience.
To bring these concepts to life, we proudly showcased beautiful 3D models from Europeana's Twin it! Part II campaign, demonstrating how heritage professionals and educators can leverage existing 3D content to captivate new audiences.

Get Inspired and Start Experimenting
Are you feeling inspired to start your own digital heritage journey? You don't need to start from scratch! We highly encourage you to browse through Europeana's rich repository of openly reusable 3D models.
What’s Next: Get Ready to Get Hands-On!
During the webinar, we took the opportunity to gather feedback on what kind of guidance and support you would find most valuable moving forward. Thank you for your input — we are already putting it to good use! Later this year, the Europeana Academy with the support of the 3D-4CH project will be hosting a hands-on training session where participants will be able to roll up their sleeves and create their very own hologram postcards using a 3D model of their choice.
Keep an eye out for official announcements and future webinars on this topic. Until then, keep exploring, keep experimenting, and let's continue bringing cultural memories to life!
